What was announced
BOSS identifies the MBX+ municipal spreader, AutoSpread Control, configurable VSI by BOSS LiquidTech sprayers and loader/backhoe couplers in its 2026–27 release. The MBX+ starts at four cubic yards with expansion options. AutoSpread adjusts output with vehicle speed on compatible MBX+ and VBX+ spreaders. BOSS also expands Cold Front Technology availability to additional plows.
Keep the model years straight
The announcement was published March 12, 2026 and updated September 24. Expanded availability does not mean every named component is a first-time invention. The article also discusses existing lighting and controller technology.
Our procurement questions
Ask the dealer for a written configuration, installed weight, loaded axle calculations and the exact controller/software compatibility. For a liquid system, work backwards from route area and refill access before choosing tank size. A larger tank is useful only if the carrier can legally and practically support it.
What still needs checking
Local inventory, installed price, lead time and performance on your route require confirmation. Manufacturer efficiency claims are not an independent field test. Request a demonstration of calibration, stopped-vehicle behaviour and operator overrides before comparing bids.
